Marshall Mutterings - August

I am pleased for once I have a bit of good news.
Will did a deal on some MSUK radios, unfortunately 1 could not be used, but 2 and a handheld were serviced and new CoC issued.
2 club members have benefited from this.
I welcome Ken Shallem Acorn 4, and Matt Clive Acorn 8 to the team.
We have 15 club operators licensed.

Nicky Grist Stages ran in very hot conditions.
The event was very well supported by the club both marshalling and in safety cars, I do not think I have enough room to list them all.
Well done. 2 weeks later was the Tour of Epynt, we again had a strong show of marshals out again for both days, again well done and thank you for your support on the events.

We are in need of help on the Britpart Woodpecker Stages PLEASE.
This is one of our clubs biggest events, contact any one of our organising team or Jason Bull or Phil Link Chief Marshalls.

Marshall Mutterings - July

There seems to be a theme going on at the moment!
More sad news Andy Manston has passed away, a long standing photographer out on most events and owner of P/H photography past away suddenly.
I personally did not know Andy but I knew he was there on the events which I was on. RIP.

This years Britpart Woodpecker Stages is a go, with new sponsors Britpart.
After many months of negotiation with NRW we have found a solution! Starting in Newtown (Britpart) and finishing at our old friends at Badlands Farm, the home of Ralphs Cider.
We need lots of help, please contact Jason Bull, Chief Marshal.

Both Helen and I were out on the Plains Rally.
It was full of problems but for the organisers making some very quick decisions from the top table as the event was cancelled halfway through, due to an RTC on the road section.
Due to the layout of the stages the marshalls in SS10 were left there not knowing what to do next!
Helen and I were sent in to pick up all the paperwork, radios etc and take back to Bala and stand the marshalls down.

Green Leaves, what a great event well done Pete and Phil for putting on a cracking event for the competitors and the Club.
The start and finish and food were first class.
The only problem we did not get the finals ha ho.
Well done.

I am still working with MSUK on the radio licences, a couple of new call signs being added.

Have a great time out there and stay safe.

Marshall Mutterings - June

I must start with some very sad news.
Most motor club stage rally marshals have had to deal with a Mr Ian Evans.
He sadly passed away recently after fighting ill health for many years.
Ian has been Chief Marshal on the Nicky Grist for many years and stage commander on so many rallies I cannot name them all.
Only in April he was stage commander on the 7 valley that is how dedicated he was to the sport.
I worked with him on WRGB when he ran the Alwen stage for many years, he was known as Commander Alwen!
Our condolences must go to his family, daughter Tru, who brought forward her wedding so as Ian could be there, Ryan Debi.

On a slightly happier note Paul Spooner has been released home after his accident with David Tomlin, get well soon.
We are now confident that the Britpart Woodpecker Rally has got the route through NRW etc, more information next month.
The Greenleaves Classic Tour has a good healthy entry, let's hope they keep coming in.
I have been checking the radio licences and getting them up to date, will be looking at operators as well.
